Hoonah

Hoonah is an Indian fishing village just off of the Icy Strait.  We were able to sail going down the Lynn Canal on our way to Hoonah.  We weren't able to sail all of the way, because the wind gave out.  It was still nice not to have to run the motor the whole day.  Also today, we put out a fishing line to try to catch some salmon.  They were jumping all around us, but none bit our line.  It was odd to see a fifty pound fish throw itself out of the water.

Hoonah has a nice harbor, with some stores, and an Indian culture center.  We were there on a Sunday, so the museum was closed.  We didn't think of this before we got there, mostly because we didn't realize it was Sunday.  You tend to lose track of the days on a boat.  There's no outside influence to server a  frame of reference.  We did walk around the town to see what was there.

After spending the night in Hoonah, we left for Inian Cove.
