Destinations for the second week.

After the trip into Glacier Bay, we flew back to Juneau from Gustavus.  From there we left on Carolina to go on our second week of the trip.

Our first stop was at Funter Bay  The weather was decidedly better this week than the first.  After leaving Funter bay, we were able to sail on the way to Hoonah.  Hoonah is a small native community that has a fish cannery, and a native culture museum.  Unfortunately the museum wasn't open when we were there.

After leaving Hoonah,.we went to the Inian Islands.  John has a friend that lives on one of the Inian Islands.  He was able to homestead there before it was declared a part of the Tongass national forest.  Now since it is in the national forest, no one else can move there, so he has the whole island to himself.  While we were there we visited a sea lion colony nearby.

From there we went out into Cross Sound to go to Elfin Cove.  It is a small fishing village that has about 50 year round residents.  There are several sport fishing lodges and places to stay there.  From there we flew Back to Juneau in a small float plane.
