Why I will Never use United Van Lines again

or

The Move From Hell

When Sharon and I decided to move from St. Louis to Philadelphia, we came to the startling conclusion that we needed to hire a professional mover. (we-uns is smart, ain't we).

Having had a bad experience with Allied Van Lines, we decided to try another company.   United Van Lines ( A-Mrazek being the local St. Louis company) impressed us a couple of ways.  They seemed to be willing to pack things (antiques) more carefully than most, and for their insurance, they didn't require everything to be appraised ahead of time.  Imagine trying to get all of your valuables appraised while you're trying to get it all packed up to move halfway across the country.

I don't understand how moving companies (and other businesses) feel they can treat customers this way.  I can only guess that they are not expecting people to move more than once in their life, and therefore there is not going to be any repeat business.   I think it's safe to say that United won't be getting repeat business from us.
